The third eye chakra is all about intuition and guidance from the divine. This chakra affiliates itself to the brain, the eyes, neurotransmitters, pineal gland and your hormones. When you think about this it is regulating the entirety of the physical body. Your body gives you signals into what is needed and or what is wrong. When dis-ease happens in the body something is not aligned with the divine. Your divine purpose is brought about to you through intuition. This being said, you can eat intuitively as well. When your body is feeling “heavy and stagnant” it will crave cleansing foods such as fruit. When it is emaciated or not fulfilled it will crave denser and fulfilling foods. Listen to your body, have conversations with it to understand what it truly needs. Sit with your body mindfully and don’t over or under eat, eat to satiation. We have mechanisms within the body to tell us when we are hungry and when we are full. If you disturb this natural flow by feeding the body without intention you may or may not get these signals. Listen to your intuition and your mindful behaviors when choosing what to eat, at which time and for your health and wellbeing of body, mind, and soul.

When thinking about the third eye and the way of the spiral effect. We as humans attract to some foods or beverages that give us this constant go around and round action, or a continual need. This is because things like caffeine give off that “need more” effect on the brain. Anything that is a stimulant will have this effect. Caffeine has a huge impact on the third eye, small amounts of caffeine can heighten awareness in a human and bring about an awaked-ness. It is not often that this caffeine habit is controlled though. We become dependent on this stimulant and then the body continues to be stimulated. When you quit coffee cold turkey the body responds with a headache as to show the physical body you have over stimulated the neurotransmitters. Finding a good balance of stimulation can help you but nothing in excess. Some examples to aid the third eye through caffeine is: coffee, black or green tea, and chocolate. A little bit goes a long way, use them wisely. Alcohol and drugs directly impact the brain and should be avoided as much as possible when trying to come into an awakened state. Alcohol, cigarettes, and brain stimulating drugs can have the action of heaviness and blurriness in the brain. To get a clear pathway to the divine one needs to have a clean and available opening. Spices are another key ingredient in opening the third eye. Spices have medicinal impact on the brain and the body so when thinking about awakening to a higher purpose and connecting the physical body and the mind to the soul, as many tools that you can have on your tool belt will help. Spices can be extremely potent so this is another indicator of a little goes a long way. As with the other chakras you can also balance this chakra through its color indicator of purple-red foods. These foods include; blackberry, blueberry, grape, boysenberry, fig, plum, raisin, raspberry, pomegranate, eggplant, cabbage (purple), purple kale, purple potato.
